Fishtail Parka Guide
We are guessing you are looking for a fishtail parka and likely need some help in deciding and getting what you want. Our Fishtail Parka Buyers Guide will help you out.
Stonetail M-1948 Fishtail Parka
The Stonetail M-1948 fishtail parka is quite simply the best quality parka that we offer for sale and in all possibility, the best mod parka on the planet. We reproduced the iconic M-1948 fishtail parka in stunning detail. The material had to be specially produced exclusively for us. The quilted liners are made from Mulberry silk so quality wise, you will not find a better mod parka. The M-1948 fishtail parka was even rare in the 1960's and very sought after by the earliest mods.
Stonetail M-1951 Fishtail Parka
Our Stonetail M-1951 fishtail parka's are again of the highest quality. We wanted to produce our own brand that is simply better than anything else out there. The Stonetail brand is for customers who prefer paying that bit extra for a quality product that will last many years. The material used is the heavy cotton sateen as per 1st Gen M-1951 original fishtail parka's. The cotton sateen is better quality compared to the later mass produced poplin versions. Again, buttons, zippers, ink stamps have been produced in exact high detail.
M-1965 Fishtail Parka
The M-1965 fishtail parka coats that we sell are authentic original U.S. Army issue that are in unissued condition. M65 parka's were produced between the years of 1968 and 1999 and are becoming very hard to find now. The parka coats we sell have been stored in military unopened boxes for many years. Once sold, we will not be able to replenish the stock so buy one now before they cease to exist in unissued condition.
Classic M-1951 Fishtail Parka
This Classic M-1951 fishtail parka is a very nice replica M51 parka for it's respective price. The Classic M51 parka is based on the later mass produced poplin version. The colour is more of a lighter olive green whereas the originals were a darker shade of green. The Classic M51 parka uses an M65 type liner which is a quilted nylon covering with polyester batting filling. We sell many of these parka coats because they are a great parka for those on a budget. Quality wise, the Stonetail M-1951 fishtail parka is far superior.
Authentic M-1951 Fishtail Parka
We have made a company decision to move away from the originals now because they have become almost impossible to find in the condition that we like for retail. Furthermore, with our Stonetail M-1951 fishtail parka coats, we have managed to reproduce the iconic coat in exact detail. We have a limited supply of large originals left in stock.
Authentic M-1948 Fishtail Parka
Original M-1948 fishtail parka coats are extremely rare and very hard to find in nice condition. The liners are the rarest component and sell for hundreds of pounds in their own right. The U.S. Army never produced as many liners as outer shells, and this is why the liners are particulary rare. M-1948 fishtail parka's were simply too expensive to produce so the U.S. Military stopped production after only one year. We do have a few original M-1948 parka's arrive each year, but they sell almost as soon as they arrive. Expect to pay between £900 to £1200 for a nice condition complete M48 parka. Rare unissued or prototype versions sell between 2k to 3k. Like most original American military kit, M48 parka's are massive. Even a small has a 58 / 60 inch chest. You need to be a pretty big person to wear an original M48 parka. This is why we decided to produce the Stonetail M-1948 fishtail parka in wearable sizes.
If you are after the best quality parka's which are true to originals in exact detail then the Stonetail parka's are for you. If you are on a budget and want a nice M51 parka then the Classic M-1951 Fishtail Parka is for you. If you are after an original U.S. Military issued parka at an affordable price then an M-1965 fishtail parka is probably a great choice. If you have big pockets and want a true collectors piece then contact us to see what original M48 parka kit is in stock :)
