Description

This is a beautiful reproduction of the ultimate mod parka, the M-1948 fishtail parka. We've gone all out here to reproduce the M-1948 fishtail parka with no expense spared. Our aim to simply produce the iconic M-1948 fishtail parka in exact detail by keeping true to the quality and small details that made the M48 parka so sought after back in the late 1950's / 1960's.

Original M48 parka's were produced to be worn over full military kit and are massive. Even a size small has a 58 / 60 inch chest measurement. Over the years we received many requests from customers wanting an M-1948 fishtail parka, but they were just too small to ever wear one without looking like they were wearing a tent. Therefore, we decided to produce the M48 parka in wearable sizes.

Normally in most cases, a reproduction is a poor imitation of the original. However here, we would go so far as to say these are actually better than an original. Why?.... because the outer shell material is identical, but also Teflon treated. Zippers and buttons etc all identical. Plus these are brand new M48 parka's and not old and tatty. The real difference is in the quilted detachable liner. We've made this very warm, but light to wear. Each liner uses approximately 7 metres of Mulberry silk.......pure luxury. The original liners were heavy wool based. They are just too big and bulky to wear and puff the appearance out of the parka.

Exclusive To Us | Stonetail M48 Parka cannot be purchased anywhere else. The M-1948 parka is the ultimate mod parka and the holy grail in our world. Even back in the 1960's they were rare and the most desirable parka for the coolest of mods.

Price And Hood Options

There are 3 hood trim options to choose from:

Faux Fur £345 A very nice faux fur trim as shown in photo's above.

Raccoon Fur £425 For those who prefer real fur that looks the part.

Wolverine Fur £545 The fur used by the U.S. Military on original M-1948 fishtail parka coats. Wolverine fur feels a little like wire compared to the softness of raccoon fur. The Wolverine fur option is for the purists and collectors out there after the true M48 parka look.

As per original M48 parka's. Wolverine fur was used by the U.S. Army when producing these fishtail parka's back in 1948/49. The fur is rare and very expensive. Frost will not form on wolverine fur, hence it's desirability and the reason why wolverine fur was used by the U.S. Army.

Customer Review

Genuine customer review received on 4th October 2018.

Over here in Sweden where the temperatures drop into the well below zero ranges my Stonetail M-1948 has been put through its paces over 2 winters with no complaints. And that is about as good a test as any winter coat can have. Beat the pants off my Fjällräven winter parka! If you have never had a US Army parka before it is for me the modularity of them that makes these stand out from other coats and what makes them so addictive to own. Plus as a bonus they are relatively lighter than comparable winter coats and because of their bagginess allow for a greater freedom of movement. Which if you are out and about a fair bit you will appreciate.
