When I opened the box, I was thrilled. As describe, the parka and liner were in near un issued condition. In fact, they were spectacular! The Wolf fur on the detachable hood is awesome and really adds character to the parka. Please tell your refurbished they did one heck of a job. Received my M-1951 Parka today.It fits perfectly for my requirements, i.e. to wear it over my business suit, to commute to work on my Scoot, just as we discussed and you promised.
It was more than I wanted to pay originally, but for a piece of history, born around the same time as me, it is worth every penny, and indeed more, (which I never ever admit)
Putting it on transports me to a different time and place, the fondly remembered past, recapturing some of my happy adolescent memories.

Fletcher is obsessed with the Mods.
He has written about his experiences
in the local Mod scene of the 1960s
in a new musical drama – MOD
CROP the musical, which premières
at The Theatre Royal, Nottingham on
9th June, when it will run for 7 performances.
He was a story
consultant on The Who's film “Quadrophenia”
and also wrote the Corgi novel which
tied in with the film. Since that
time he has published a series of
books on the 60s Mods under the collective
title of The Mod Crop Trilogy. “Brummell's
Last Riff “, the first novel
in the set, forms the basis of the
drama.
MOD CROP tells
the story of three Mod youths growing
up in the mid 60s, and in the words
of Pete Meaden trying to “live
cleanly under difficult circumstances”,
daring to be different. The show features
a cast of talented young actors from
the Nottingham area, who will perform
alongside Mark Joseph (a singer/songwriter
with a clutch of top 40 records to
his credit) and the legendary Dave
Berry, who will be performing his
classic song “The Crying Game”.
When talking to
us, Alan enthused ”This
is your return ticket to the 60s.
If you were there at the time in that
time of Mod then MOD CROP will bring
back all the memories of those heady
days. If you weren't around in 1965
then the show will re-create the atmosphere
of period for you, in its portrayal
of Mod life as it really was, out
on the streets of England in the mid
60s.”
The show will feature
a dozen iconic songs from the 60s,
performed with a live five piece band,
plus an incidental soundtrack from
the era, laced through the story.
The drama is underscored with the
staccato sound of Lambretta and Vespa
scooters at full throttle.
There is of course “nothing
as modern as nostalgia”... but
in talking about the show, Alan points
out that...”whilst the story
is set in the 1960s the issues dealt
with are timeless.... friendship and
its consequence, relentless peer pressure,
and the thrills and terrors of adolescence
are as crucial in whatever decade....”
